Easter Sunday 4 April 2010

Click here to download and listen to this homily (10 minutes) given by Fr Thomas Weise. Love draws Mary of Magdala to the tomb of Jesus early Easter morning. The tomb is empty because it is no longer needed. Jesus Christ is Risen, He is Risen indeed!

Good Friday 2 April 2010

Click here to download and listen to the Passion of our Lord Jesus Christ according to John (22 minutes) followed by a short homily given by Bishop Edward J Burns. There are three types of disciples: spectators, deniers, and faithful witnesses who remain with the Lord at the foot of the cross as he dies for us. Let us be those faithful witnesses to the Love of God shown to us on the cross.

Readings: Isaiah 52:13-53:12; Psalm 31; Hebrews 4:14-16, 5:7-9; John 18:1-19:42.

Holy Thursday 1 April 2010

Click here to download and listen to this homily (12 minutes) given by Bishop Edward J Burns. Jesus washes the feet of the disciples saying, "I have given you a model to follow, so that as I have done for you, you should also do." Our reception of the Eucharist is to strengthen us that we might be willing and able to serve others.

Palm Passion Sunday 28 March 2010

Click here to download and listen to the Passion of our Lord Jesus Christ according to Luke (21 minutes) followed by a short homily given by Fr Thomas Weise. It is amazing how quickly our hearts turn from singing "Hosanna" to "Crucify Him!" Jesus did not regard equality with God something to be grasped. Rather, he emptied himself, taking the form of a slave and dying on a cross.

Readings: Luke 19:28-40; Isaiah 50:4-7; Psalm 22; Philippians 2:6-11; Luke 22:14-23:56.

Readings: Isaiah 61:1-3a, 6a, 8b-9; Psalm 89; Revelation 1:5-8; Luke 4:16-21.
